The Week That Doesn't End Til' December

Hey! Thank you for checking back! I know it's been a while since I posted anything, anything at all, but I think you'll find that that is not entirely true if you check out the mobile blog at:

jedtheflyinghead.tumblr.com

I don't always have my laptop with me, but more often than not I'm on my iPhone, which is with me pretty much all/most of the time. That, and it has a camera and a bunch of other stuff that make it so much easier to use than the 2008-0-saurus Rex I'm writing on right now. Not that it's that ancient, but, you know, it doesn't fit in the pocket and there's not quite as much curb appeal.

But I said all of that to say this, that I am still very earnest about producing some JTFH adventures for you all, and, having done so to some extent already, I thought I might just post a little som'n som'n for those who might want to take a look. It's a short story entitled "Fetch!" penned back in 2008. I won't give any spoilers as to the storyline, or characters introduced or involved in said adventure, other than that it is the second JTFH story I ever wrote, and that it will only be available for download for the next thirty days. That's thirty days starting today, August 27th, 2011. If you're reading this after that, then you missed it. It might be in print in some other format, but the PDF is ready here, right now, just for you.

Come to think of it, I might just delete this post so nobody gets all jealous sauce about it. But if you're reading this right now, and the date on your watch/phone/calendar/computer/what-have-you reads some date between August 27th and September 27th, 2011, you can click on the link below and download that story for your very own. Here, with no further ado, is that link:

"Fetch!"

As always, thanks for stopping by, and be sure to subscribe to the mobile blog, again that's jedtheflyinghead.tumblr.com, and we can also be found on Twitter @flyingheadjed, or on Facebook. Just do a search for Jed The Flying Head and see what comes soaring your way.

So long for the present!

Yours Most Sincerely,

Jer

Unorthodox Tales #19

At long last, it's finished. What am I talking about? Well, only the cover for "Unorthodox Tales" #19, which was released in August of an as yet unspecified year. Said issue contains a story about a cycloptic comic book collector and a chance encounter with a time machine, a desperado with a trick knee, and, most importantly, the first appearance and origin of Jed The Flying Head.

Since this is really the first post in the JTFH blog, it would be very presumptuous of me to expect you to care at this point who or what Jed The Flying Head is, and to shed some light on that--as the above mentioned issue is not yet available in its entirety--here is a quick rundown on the origin of Jed The Flying Head.

"Late one night, Dr. Jedediah Cranium was in the lab working on a new invincibility serum for the United States military to be used against the Nazi forces in Europe. Just as the experiment was nearing completion, two armed men--Nazi agents, both of them--burst into the lab and threatened to kill Dr. Cranium unless he handed over the serum.

Dr.Cranium refused.

Before the two men could take it from him, however, Dr. Cranium drank the whole bottle of serum.

Incensed, the Nazi agents attempted to capture Dr. Cranium. In an attempt to escape nearby window, Dr. Cranium overturned a heavy bookcase. His head, ultimately, was trapped beneath.

Realizing that they did not need his whole body to extract the serum from the apparently expired scientist's stomach, the Nazi agents cut off Dr. Cranium's head and took the body with them. The book case was very heavy, you see.

But the serum had already worked. When Dr. Cranium awoke, he found that his body had gone, but that life--his life--had not.

Working with materials immediately at hand, and with the help of his friend and colleague, Dr. Theodore Leadbutter, Dr. Cranium equipped himself with wings and a propeller that he might regain some of his former mobility.

Now immortal as a result of his successful invincibility serum, Dr. Cranium, a.k.a, Jed The Flying Head, vowed to fight injustice wherever he might find it, and to one day reunite head and body that he might be whole again.

And so the adventure begins..."*

If you've read this far, thank you. I'm glad you're along for the ride. Be sure to keep checking back here for more news on JTFH, and also, make extra sure to check out the microblog on tumblr. You can find it at:

I'll be posting lots of new artwork there as it becomes available, and here as well, of course, but a lot of the newer paintings are being done on my iPhone (at least until get an iPad and or iMac).

And, if you care to follow me on Twitter, I can be found @flyingheadjed.

Facebook and Google+ still to come. In the mean time, enjoy the cover, and check back to see more exciting Jed news, stories, and artwork. Thanks again for stopping by!
